The Agenda

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15, for the purposes of an executive session to discuss potential litigation. The meeting is not an open session and is not open to the public.

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall.

The agenda includes: discussion and possible vote on the DNREC/Parks and Recreation Grant for the former Christian Church property; and discussion and a vote concerning a previously adopted ordinance on Section 60-12 (B) of Chapter 60 (“Licensing of Commercial Establishments — Alcoholic Beverages”) of the town code, which extended the sunset provision for “waiting area bars” from Jan. 31, 2005, to April 30, 2005.

Also on the agenda are first readings for: 1) an ordinance regulating wireless communications facilities; and 2) an ordinance regulating swimming pools. The council will also consider the Budget and Finance Committee’s mission statement and charter and consider awarding concessions for boardwalk exercise and yoga classes.

• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, April 16, at 9 a.m. in the town hall.
• The Bethany Beach Flood and Drainage Committee will meet Thursday, April 21, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes discussion of the status of ongoing drainage projects, including Bethany West and North Pennsylvania Avenue, and discussion of the inflatable bladder dam project.

The town of Bethany Beach will flush water lines between Monday, April 11, and Friday, April 15, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The town flushes its water system twice a year — spring and fall — to rid the system of any accumulated sediment for highest quality water and to ensure that fire hydrants are operating properly in case of an emergency.

During the time the flushing is being performed property owners may find that their water is discolored. Water should return to normal within a few hours. It is recommended that no laundry be done during the flushing periods to prevent discoloration.
