Friday, May 13 Town Council meeting, 7 p.m., Town Hall (402 Evergreen Rd.).
The town will hold elections on Saturday, May 28, and incumbent candidates will offer some personal background on May 13, followed by a question and answer segment.
Council Members Richard Ronan and Bonnie Lambertson are up for reelection.
In other business, Council Member Marge Gassinger will introduce a resolution to schedule a public hearing “to give notice to the voters of the Town of South Bethany that the Town Council proposes to build a Town Hall building and police building in the excess of $100,000.”
Sussex County
Monday, May 16 Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities, 10 a.m., Sussex County West Complex (Routes 9 and 113, Georgetown).
Tuesday, May 17 Sussex County Council meeting 10 a.m., County Admin Building (2 The Circle, Georgetown).
County Administrator Robert Stickels will present on the fiscal 2006 budget, and introduce a pair of ordinances. One establishes the annual operating budget, and the other establishes a variety of county water and sewer charges (connection, service, transmission, etc.).
These ordinances will be scheduled for public hearing, and likely modified here and there based on resulting input.
Ocean View
Tuesday, May 17 Workshop, 7 p.m., Town Hall (32 West Ave.)
• Fenwick Island will hold a workshop without agenda (WWA) on Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at the town hall.
• The Fenwick Island Commercial Liaison Committee will meet Thursday, May 19, at 4 p.m.
• Fenwick Island will hold a public hearing regarding proposed changes to Zoning Section 160, 6B (Regulations for Structures, Docks, Piers) on Friday, May 20, at 3 p.m.
The proposed changes would allow docks and boat lifts in five additional canals that are 50 to 60 feet wide. Allowable dock width will be increased from 4 to 5 feet to better accommodate out-of-water storage of small boats. Dock and boat lifts will continue not to be allowed in the four remaining canals in the town that are less than 50 feet wide.
The hearing will be a first reading for the proposed changes, with additional changes since a first reading held at the April town council meeting.
• The Fenwick Island Town Council will meet Friday, May 20, at 3:30 p.m.
• Bethany Beach will hold a special meeting Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m., to fill the town council seat vacated by Robert Degen, effective May 1. Those interested in serving the remainder of Degen’s term (expiring September 2006) must submit an application to the town manager’s office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and otherwise qualified to vote in annual town elections.
Once the applications have been submitted, they will be considered by the remaining members of the town council, who will elect the replacement at a special meeting May 20.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m.
