Bill Reid is on his third location for his business in 20 years. And doesn’t bother him at all.
“It’s a thriving business,” he said. “It keeps getting bigger and better.
Reid is the owner of Mattress Unlimited. He sells mattresses, some furniture and some linens.
This time his trip was short to move. He moved right across the parking lot at 111 Atlantic Ave. in Ocean View. His previous move came from near the bridge on Route 26 to the first location at 111 Atlantic. He couldn’t describe how he started in the business after retiring and moving here from Maryland. He said he just started it and it took off, like poison ivy, he just let it alone and it still grows.
He said the move doubled the space of his business. That was the same reason he had to leave the bridge location, the other tenants grew too big and was told they needed the space and had to move.
The most recent move was successful and Reid encountered no problems. He was more excited to get set up and start making some money, than the move itself.

The expanded space allows Reid to showcase more of his products.

Reid doesn’t look at the competition that is out there, because he knows it is. He tries to treat people fair and decent and offer customers a reasonable price to get them in the store.
Even with all the growth in the area and increasing traffic, Reid still wants to keep his business low-key and not get too big .
“I’m happy with the little small town business,” Reid said.
Reid can’t find anything negative to say about the area, aside from the increasing traffic, which he said calling it bad is putting it mildly.
But with more traffic more people will be able to enter his store, which encourages people to do and see his new store and furniture.
Reid is a member of the Lions Club, on the Board of Directors at the VFW and a lifetime member and a lifetime member of the American Legion.
He hopes to retire in a couple of year and let someone else come and enjoy the profits of it that he has enjoyed for so many years. He has a big stock on hand so that when the customer needs it, he is there to provide the desired items.
“I love [the business], who couldn’t love it,” Reid said.
