Bethany Beach
• The annual summer entertainment series hosted by Bethany Beach will feature the City of Fairfax Band on Friday, July 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the boardwalk bandstand. The U.S. Navy Sea Chanters will perform on Saturday, July 30, also at 7:30 p.m.
Phillies organist Paul Richardson will perform Sunday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. The Thunderbolts youth baton, pompon and dance troupe will be perform Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m., also on the bandstand.
Registration for the Bethany Beach Talent Show will begin Monday, Aug. 1, and run through Thursday, Aug. 18. There are a limited number of slots available for performers at the Aug. 26 talent show. More information can be obtained at town hall.

• The Bethany Beach Audit Committee will meet Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. at the town hall to discuss the annual town audit.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet with local builders on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m., also at the town hall.
Fenwick Island
• Fenwick Island will feature storytime in the town park gazebo with the Ms. Suzies on Saturday, July 30, at 10 a.m.
• The Fenwick Island Parks and Recreation Committee will present a performance by the Nautical Sounds barbershop chorus at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.
Ocean View
The Ocean View Town Council will meet Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., at town hall (32 West Avenue). Council will hold three public hearings (second readings) to start the meeting:
• An ordinance to levy fines against contractors violating restrictions on the hours permitted for construction-related activities (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, no work on Sundays).
• An ordinance to formalize an increase in building permit fees (by 5 cents per square foot). Council has considered using some portion of the monies generate by the increase to support the Millville Volunteer Fire Company.
• An ordinance to add “sale of liquor for off-premises consumption” to the conditional-use list, under special exceptions.
Also on the agenda:
• Council is slated to honor the Citizens Auxiliary Patrol (CAP) with a special resolution and consider a donation request from the Friends of the South Coastal Library (FOSCL).
• Under old business: (1) approval of plans for the new police station bid package, (2) consideration of financing options for the new police station, (3) discussion of an ordinance to re-zone various parcels along Atlantic Avenue (Route 26) as general business, and (4) discussion of the “Shores” house and property on Central Avenue.
Selbyville
The Selbyville Town Council will meet Monday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m., at the town hall.
Sussex County Council
Sussex County Council will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m., at the County Administration Building (2 The Circle in Georgetown). Among the items on the agenda:
• County Administrator Bob Stickels is slated to give council an update on the Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT’s) Capital Transportation Improvement Program specifically, which projects around the county have been placed on hold.
• Also under Stickel’s agenda, several large grant requests, including two at $28,000 apiece, for community land trusts (CLTs) in West Rehoboth and Ellendale, and a request from Delaware Youth Opportunities Inc. (for $100,000) for what may become Slam Dunk to the Beach’s successor the Bayball Classic.
• Finance Director David Baker will cover: (1) a proposed loan resolution for the Sussex County Economic Development Stimulus Program, and (2) the loan committee’s recommendation for a $250,000 loan to the City of Seaford, for infrastructure improvements.
• Under grant requests, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Delaware Chapter, for a Team in Training fundraiser and the Business Industry Education Alliance, for the Choices program.
