Ocean View
• The Town of Ocean View will host Junior Wilson for the season’s second Concert in the Park (at John West Park), on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m.
• Ocean View Town Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., at town hall (32 West Ave.). There are three public hearings on the agenda, all for first readings of new ordinances (1) to rezone various parcels along Atlantic Avenue (Route 26) as General Business, (2) to grant holiday pay to part-time employees and (3) to give town staff and Planning and Zoning (P&Z) commissioners time to review site plans before setting a meeting.
• Under old business, discussion and consideration of (1) request for annexation of the O’Rourke property, (2) a bid package for a drainage project, (3) a bid package for the new police station, (4) a request for proposal to negotiate a contract for tax reassessements, (5) a plan for the Shores’ property, (6) a plan for the proposed public works facility, (7) the possibility of levying a town transfer tax and (8) appointment of members to a Historic Preservation District Committee.
• Under new business, discussion and consideration of (1) an application for conditional use, submitted by Doug Brown, on behalf of Carl M. Freeman Associates, for the sale of alcoholic liquor, beer, wines and spirits at what would be a new shop in Bear Trap, (2) a resolution regarding central water, (3) an ordinance regarding suspension of requirements for awards of contracts less than $22,500 during a state of emergency, (4) an ordinance amending the personnel policy manual, relating to reimbursement for food expenses incurred while working during a state of emergency and (5) nomination of a new member to the Long-Range Financial Planning Committee.
Sussex County
• The County Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission will meet on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., at the County Administrative Building (2 The Circle, Georgetown). No new projects appear, south of the Indian River or east of Millsboro, although the commission will consider a site plan for Phase II at Americana Bayside (now simply Bayside), on Route 54, under old business.
Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT)
• DelDOT will host a public workshop on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m., at the DelDOT Georgetown Administration Building (corner of South Bedford Street Extended and Route 113, Georgetown).
• The Delaware Capital Transportation Program meeting follows the workshop, at 7 p.m. County representatives, citizens and DelDOT officials review five-year projections for road projects at this annual meeting.
