Bethany Beach

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet Friday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes:

o Discussion and vote on committee guidelines;

o Appointment of new police officers

o Discussion and vote on Article III (Licensing of Commercial Establishments) of Chapter 60 (Alcoholic Beverages) of the town code regarding waiting area bars and the sunsetting date for Bethany Blues restaurant;

o A second reading of an ordinance to amend Section 80-27 of the town code;

o A first reading of an ordinance to amend Chapter 179 (Property Maintenance) of the town code;

o Discussion and vote on fluoridation of town water;

o Consideration of a contract submitted by Hertrich Fleet Services Inc. for the purchase of a 2006 Dodge Charger with police package; and

o Consideration of a contract for a drainage swale for Candlelight Acres and Fairway Drive areas.

• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, Sept. 17, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. The meeting’s agenda includes:

o Review of an application for land combining submitted by Mike Cummings for property located at 121 Parkwood Street in the R-1 Zone; and

o Review of Chapter 245-2 Amendments — PRD’s “Grandfathering.”

Fenwick Island

• The Fenwick Island Commercial Liaison Committee will meet Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. in the town hall.

• On Sept. 23 at 2 p.m., the Fenwick Island Town Council will hold a public hearing in the town hall to receive testimony regarding a proposed amendment to the town code, Chapter 160 — Zoning: Paragraph 160-2 Definitions; Para. 160-5a Commercial Zone Use Regulations; Para.160-5c Commercial Zone Area Regulations; and Para. 160-7a Off-Street Parking Regulations, as related to apartments and motels. Copies of the proposed amendment are available at town hall.

• On Sept. 23 at 2:30 p.m., the Fenwick Island Town Council will hold a public hearing in the town hall to receive testimony regarding a proposed amendment to the town code, Chapter 160 — Zoning, Paragraph 6-b, regulations for docks and boat lifts in canals. Copies of the proposed amendment are available at town hall.

• The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, in the town hall.

Sussex County Board of Adjustments

• The Sussex County Board of Adjustments will hold a hearing on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. The hearing will deal with a special-use and variance request for the erection of a billboard on the property of Anthony Crivella adjacent to the Little Assawoman Canal and Route 54 bridge outside of Fenwick Island.

Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission

• The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, in the County Council Chambers of the County Administrative Office Building in Georgetown. The agenda includes:

o Continued consideration of the final subdivision for Waterside Inc. for The Inlet at Pine Grove in a Medium Density Residential District, dividing 31.87 acres into 36 lots, located north of Route 26 and east of Road 349;

o Continued consideration of the preliminary subdivision for Dagsboro Branch LLC for Dagsboro Woods in an AR-1 Agricultural Residential District, dividing 8.74 acres into 10 lots, (cluster development), and a variance from the maximum allowed cul-de-sac length of 1,000 feet, located southwest of the intersection of Road 331 and Pennsylvania Railroad Crossing;

o A public hearing on the application of Gregory and Patricia White to consider the conditional use of land in a Medium Density Residential District for multifamily dwelling structures (six units) to be located on 40,702 square feet, southwest of Route 26, north of Route 54 and Road 365 at St. George’s Church;

o Consideration of a time extension for the conditional use of Windmill Ventures LLC at Road 352;

o Consideration of two lots on Ocean Pines Lane for Sitton Living Trust; and

o Consideration of a lot on Piney Point Road for Delmus Hickman.

Ocean View

• Ocean View Town Council will meet for a work session on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m., at town hall (32 West Ave.) Under new business, discussion regarding potential ordinances — (1) an amendment to the subdivision code, (2) a single lot development ordinance and (3) an ordinance on communications towers.

• Council will also discuss (1) the bid package for the new police facility, and a bid package for financing that facility, (2) a donation to SCAT for victims of Hurricane Katrina, (3) possible funding sources for the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and (4) survey results, regarding a town trolley and/or trash service.

• The Historical Committee has returned from summer break, and will meet on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m., at town hall. The committee is slated to establish a meeting schedule and update on interviews, interview procedures and a list of prospective interviewees.

South Bethany

• South Bethany Town Council will hold a special meeting/workshop on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m., at town hall (402 Evergreen Rd.).

• The town will hold a special election/referendum on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at town hall. Council is seeking public approval for the expenditure of $970,000, from reserves, for a new town hall and police station.

Sussex County

• Sussex County Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m., at the County Administrative Building (2 The Circle, Georgetown). On the agenda, presentations (to and/or from) two housing assistance agencies, County Administrator Bob Stickels’ Capital Transportation Improvement Report, and a grant request from the Ocean View Girl Scouts.

• Council will hold public hearing for an ordinance increasing building code review and inspection fees.
