Bethany Beach

• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission’s ad hoc committee will meet Friday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the town hall.

• The Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee (CHAC) will meet Monday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at the town hall.

• Bethany Beach’s Communications Committee will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the town hall.

• The Seaside Craft Show Committee will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Bethany Beach town hall.

• The Charter and Ordinance Review Committee (CORC) of Bethany Beach will meet on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m., in the town hall.

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at the town hall. Agenda items include:

o Approval of Tax Adjustment List No. 1;

o Announcement of Planning Commission and committee appointments;

o Discussion and vote on committee guidelines;

o A second reading of an ordinance to delete the sunsetting provision for “waiting area bars” (a house-keeping measure to document action taken by the Town Council at the Sept. 16 meeting);

o A second reading of an ordinance to amend the Bethany Beach town code to add a New Chapter 239 to regulate wireless communications towers and amateur radio antennas;

o Setting of a date for a public hearing and referring to the Planning Commission of an ordinance in Chapter 245 (“Zoning”) of the Bethany Beach town code to establish and define a “conditional use,” to define a “public utility” and to amend various sections of the zoning ordinance to allow wireless communications facilities to be permitted in all zoning districts if approved as a “special exception” or as a “conditional use”; and to allow public buildings, public service buildings, water towers and public utilities if approved as a “special exception” in the C-1 and C-2 commercial zoning districts;

o A first reading of an ordinance to amend Chapter 200 (Subdivision of Land) of the town code;

o Consideration of a resolution to amend the town pension plan; and

o Consideration of a contract submitted by Security Services and Technologies for a key-card entry system for town hall.

• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m. in the town hall.

Fenwick Island

• Fenwick Island’s Commercial Liaison Committee is set to meet at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the town hall.

Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission

A special meeting of the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m., in the County Council Chambers, of the County Administrative Office Building in Georgetown.

Among the items on the agenda are consideration of:

• The multi-family site plan of Bethany Grand LLC for property on Road 357 (Cedar Neck Road);

• The commercial site plan for M. Michael Massumi on Road 357 (Cedar Neck Road);

• A site plan for conditional use at Verandah Bay on Route 54;

• Two lots for Sitton Living Trust on Ocean Pines Lane;

• A time extension for a conditional use by North Beach LLC on Road 360;

• A time extension for a conditional use by Inland Bays LLC on Road 360; and

• A time extension for a conditional use by NCORB LLC on Road 361.

South Bethany

• South Bethany Town Council will meet on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. (town hall).

Sussex County Council

• Sussex County Council meets Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 10 a.m., in Council Chambers at the County Administrative Office Building. Meetings can also be monitored on the internet at www.sussexcounty.net, then click Live Council Chamber Broadcast. On the agenda, a Sussex Conservation District grant, introduction of an ordinance relating to sheriff fees and a proposed Pensioner Drug Subsidy Program. After a break for lunch (reconvening at 1:30 p.m.), council will hold several public hearings, starting with Gregory and Patricia White’s application for conditional use, to build two duplexes on roughly 0.9 acre, just north of St. George’s Church, west side of Route 26.

Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT)

• DelDOT will host an all-day info session (10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Millsboro Fire Hall (109 East State St.), to explain proposed bypasses along the Route 113 north/south corridor. DelDOT is considering various models, as it prepares to convert Route 113 into a limited access road — locally, with bypasses either to the west (around Millsboro, Dagsboro, Frankford and/or Selbyville) or possibly to the east (an option for the first three, but not Selbyville). DelDOT continues its public workshop series on Oct. 18 to give the public an opportunity to review the narrowed field of choices. Ocean View

• Ocean View Town Council will meet for a work session on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. (town hall). On the agenda, discussion regarding possible draft ordinances, consideration of awarding bids for (1) a drainage project to address flooding in parts of Country Village and The Cottages, (2) an emergency generator and (3) property tax reevaluation and a three-year contract for assessment services.

Indian River School District (IRSD)

• The IRSD School Board will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at the new Sussex Central High School (26026 Patriots Way, north of Millsboro). On the agenda, special guest Ryan Farrell, Delaware Mentoring Coordinator, plus the major capital improvement reports and monthly committee and financial reports.

Ocean View P&Z

• The Ocean View Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission will meet on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., at town hall, 32 West Ave. The commission will review an ordinance “relating to conformity of Residential uses in the General Business (GB) district,” (part of its continuing efforts to establish a set of design standards for the Route 26 corridor) and seven site plans.

o Ralph Picard, nine townhomes on 1.9 acres at 32 Atlantic Ave — continuation of preliminary review.

o George Keen for the Dorothy V. Evans estate, four lots on 2 acres at 2 Central Ave. — continuation of subdivision and preliminary review.

o Larry Sawyer for James Kyger, two office buildings (housing up to three businesses) at 2 and 4 Town Rd. — final site plan review.

o Larry Saywer for John Roberts, a fitness center at 15 Atlantic Ave (but actually sharing an entrance on Town Road with the Kyger project) – final site plan review.

o Rupert Smith, 11 townhouses and two single-family homes on Woodland Avenue — final site plan review.

o Miranda and Hardt for Gysm LLC, an 8- by 10-foot refrigerated storage unit at 111 Atlantic Ave — site plan review.
