There are a few places in “downtown” Fenwick Island where adults can gather for some relaxation outside the old homestead perhaps a beer or a cocktail. However, heading westward out of the coastal zone, it gets to be pretty slim pickings.

Questions and Answers
People often come to me for help in selecting a plant. This is one of my favorite parts of my job, but it can also be one of the most frustrating. It usually involves a game of Twenty Questions, with me trying to get enough information to be able to recommend something appropriate. Unfortunately, the homeowners rarely know the answers, or are too vague to be of help. The questions, and replies, usually go some thing like this:

Indians take out frustrations on Seaford
Following their loss to Sussex Central, the Indians were a little beaten up, both mentally and physically. But they put a good old-fashioned 43-0 whipping on Seaford on Nov. 4. The first-team offense played about a quarter and a half before giving way to their second unit and the junior-varsity team.
Middle school goes undefeated
A 5-0 win over Phifer Middle School concluded the Selbyville Middle School soccer season, further improving the Indians astounding eight-year record of 88-4-2. The undefeated Indians posted an 11-0-1 record this season, which included eight shut-outs.
Central and Selbyville show off defenses
Middle-school football is a great way for kids to compete in a sport they love but oftentimes they play on secluded fields or there aren’t many spectators attending their games.
Indians shut down Delmar to advance
Indian River’s varsity soccer team sputtered then accelerated past Delmar on Nov. 8 to earn their first state tournament win of the 2005 season.
Lady Indians advance to playoffs
Win or go home. The Lady Indians field hockey team was presented with that very predicament this week and prevailed. They had to score more goals than Dover and against a first-team All-Conference goalie no less. Logan Dickerson is a tough goalie, but it was Indian River that prevailed when all the chips were on the table, earning them the No. 16 seed.
