Fenwick Island
The Fenwick Island Town Council will meet Friday, Nov. 18, at 3:30 p.m. Items on the agenda include:
• A second reading for ordinance changes regarding signs;
• A first reading for zoning ordinance changes regarding the front building limit line and definition block;
• Consideration of beach sign designs and funding;
• Consideration of pollution control strategies; and
• Updates on beach replenishment, median strip, and dune handrails and benches.
Indian River School District (IRSD)
• The IRSD School Board will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at the new Indian River High School. Indian River’s own Jamie Ennis is slated for recognition, for winning a national Future Farmers of America (FFA) gold medal. Frankford Elementary School teachers, students and staff earned congratulations as well, for their recent receipt of the prestigious “Dispelling the Myth” award, and the IRSD as a whole gets to pat itself on the back for “Narrowing the Achievement Gap.” The policy committee will conduct a second reading on a change related to new board member orientation, followed by the financial reports.
Bethany Beach
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes: recognition of Dennis Cleary, Alderman Court appointments, submission of white papers regarding Chapters 245-16 (Fences) and 197-13 (Driveways), second readings of an ordinance to amend Chapter 200 (Subdivision of Land) of the Town Code and an Ordinance to amend the Bethany Beach Town Code to add a new Chapter 239 to regulate wireless communications towers and amateur radio antennas. Council members will also consider a motion to cancel the December 2005 Town Council meeting.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. Agenda items include: consideration to grant a 12-month extension to Robert and Linda Maxwell to complete partitioning that was granted in September 2004; review of zoning ordinance Chapter 245 for communication facilities to be permitted in all zoning districts; and a zoning ad hoc committee (ZAC) update.
• The Bethany Beach Communications Committee will meet Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at the town hall.
