The Agenda
Sussex County Planning & Zoning
The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will meet on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. in the County Council Chambers in Georgetown. The agenda for the meeting includes only two items both being public hearings that are likely to be extensive and extended, on:
• The application of Reynolds Pond LLC to consider the subdivision as a cluster development of 836.32 acres of land in an AR-1 agricultural residential district at the intersection of Route 30 and Road 227, dividing the parcel into 1,630 lots; and
• A proposed ordinance amendment to amend Chapter 115, Section 25 of the county code, to add a requirement that all AR-1 cluster developments be located within a development district as shown on the adopted comprehensive plan for Sussex County.
Indian River Inlet Bridge
The Indian River Inlet Bridge Construction Advisory Group will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 9 a.m., at the Construction Site Field Office, across from the U.S. Coast Guard Station, north side of the Indian River Inlet (Inlet Road).
Sussex County
Sussex County Council will hold its night meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6:30 p.m., in the Sussex County Administrative Office Building in Georgetown. On the agenda, a funding request from Delaware Ducks Unlimited, for 2006 Safety & Conservation Day, a report from County Attorney James Griffin on regulations relating to the introduction of draft ordinances, a resolution from Community Development & Housing’s Bill Lecates, an ordinance relating to sheriff’s fees, and various public hearings on land use. Also up for consideration:
• A conditional-use (CU) request for Timothy and Vickie O’Hare, for a wood shop on a 35-acre parcel at Omar and Wingate roads;
• A CU request for Michael Orndorff, for 16 multifamily dwellings on 4.1 acres at Sandy Cove and Cedar Neck roads;
• A CU request for Edward Chiasson, for a gift shop at a three-quarter acre parcel on Route 54, southwest of Route 20;
• A change-of-zone (CZ) application for Bayville Shore Associates I LLC to increase the density in the Bayville Shore high-density residential, residential planned community (HR-2/RPC) from 332 units to 342 units. The project is located on 92 acres, north of Route 54, north of Bayville Road.
Millville
Millville Town Council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m. Council will hold two public hearings. One concerns a change of zone from residential to commercial at 23 Cedar Drive, and a combination of that parcel with two others (already zoned commercial) between 23 Cedar Drive and the corner at Route 26 (Atlantic Avenue). The application was filed on behalf of Artisan’s Bank. The other concerns a change of zone from residential to commercial at 422 Atlantic Avenue, for Jon and Wendy Binnix. Also on the agenda, a resolution related to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and associated fees.
Frankford
Frankford Town Council will meet on Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.
Selbyville
The Selbyville Town Council has rescheduled its January meeting to Monday, Jan. 9, from Monday, Jan. 2, due to the New Year’s holiday.
Bethany Beach
The Bethany Beach Traffic & Parking Committee will meet Saturday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes:
• Discussion of preparing white paper for the town council on Article IV 197, sections 8 through 13;
• Proposing of changes to handicapped parking privileges at parking meters, including possibly putting an end to free meter use; and
• Review of the marking of driveways in the 300 block of various streets that have permit parking on the west side of Route 1.
