The Agenda
Fenwick Island
The Fenwick Island Town Council will host its regular monthly meeting on Friday, March 24, at 3:30 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes:
• A first reading of a modified signage ordinance, under Chapter 135 of the town code;
• Possible approval of a fee quote and timetable for the town’s annual examination and assessment of property by Phyllis Trala;
• Discussion of a Public Works storage lease; and
• A proposal for IPA to write a comprehensive plan for the town.
Dagsboro
Dagsboro Town Council will meet on Monday, March 27, at 7 p.m., at the Bethel Center (107 Clayton Street). Council will hold public hearings on and consider adoption of two ordinances, one relating to the number of “Condominium Flats” permitted in a “Condominium Building,” and the other relating to temporary sales/construction trailers. In other business: (1) review and consideration of a public works agreement, (2) a resolution to apply for grant funding for implementation of the town’s Comprehensive Plan, (3) a report from the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission, (4) consideration of placing two stop signs at Warrington and Sussex streets, (5) grass-cutting bids, and (6) review and discussion regarding a possible Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance.
Indian River School District
The Indian River School District Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, in the cafeteria at Indian River High School. After honoring several district students for their achievements, the board will review continuing major capital improvements and school choice applications. It will then hear committee reports and review the district’s financial situation before going into executive session and adjourning. The board does not expect to have results from Tuesday’s referendum vote before the Tuesday-night meeting.
Sussex County
Sussex County Council will meet on Tuesday, March 28, at 10 a.m., in Council Chambers at the Sussex County Administrative Office Building in Georgetown. Council is slated to consider a request for proposals from consulting firms, for assistance with the Sussex County Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update 2007. At 1:30 p.m., council will reconvene for land-use hearings, and will consider two local requests for conditional use: (1) Bethany Court, for a six-unit multifamily structure on 1.3 acres in the Tower Shores neighborhood, and (2) and Carroll and Diane Brasure, for parking service vehicles in a garage, in Roxana.
DelDOT
DelDOT will hold a public workshop on Monday, March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Roxana Fire Hall (Zion Church Road/Route 20), to present revised preliminary plans for improvements along Route 26, Clarksville to the Assawoman Canal. The proposed improvements include widening Route 26 to provide 11-foot travel lanes, 5-foot paved shoulders, a 12-foot shared center left-turn lane, the rehabilitation/addition of curb and sidewalks for approximately two-thirds of the project, the addition of right-turn lanes and the realignment of the intersections at Clarksville (Route 26/Omar and Powell Farm roads) and Central Avenue (in Ocean View).
