Virgil James Webb, 95
Virgil James Webb, 95, of Showell, Md., died at Atlantic General Hospital on Thursday, March 23. He had worked for Bunting’s Nursery for more than 35 years.

He is survived by fours sons, Norman J. Webb, John A. Webb Sr., Joshua B. Webb Sr., Virgil L. Webb Sr.; one daughter, Audrey W. Topping; two sisters, Elizabeth Baker and Hazel Hudson; nine grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine L. Webb, and three brothers.

Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, March 27, at Redmen’s Cemetery in Selbyville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Bishopville Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 350, Bishopville, MD 21813.

Joseph Roland Ward Sr., 78
Joseph Roland Ward Sr. 78, of Selbyville, formerly of Randallstown, Md., died at Atlantic General Hospital on Friday, March 24. He was a Baltimore City police officer, having retired after 21 years of service.

He was a charter member of the Fenwick Island Baptist Church and had been a former deacon at the church. He was a mason and member of Corinthian Lodge #93 AF & AM, Hunt Valley, Md., and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

He is survived by his wife, Doris E. Ward; one son, Joseph R. Ward Jr.; two daughters, Linda L. Adkins and Jo Anne B. Fuller; one sister, Bertha V. Slemaker; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey E. Lambden.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, at Fenwick Island Baptist Church in Selbyville with internment at Sunset Memorial Park, Berlin, Md.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Fenwick Island Baptist Church, 36806 Lighthouse Road, Selbyville, DE 19975.

Joyce Lucille Dale Bundick, 69
Joyce Lucille Dale Bundick, 69, of Millsboro died at home on Saturday, March 25. She was a custodian at Stockley Center, having retired after two years of service.

She was a graduate of the William Jason High School. She was formerly a member of Dickerson Chapel AME Church where she served as Usher, Stewardess and member of the board and member of the Chancel Choir. She was in the Women’s Society and the Eastern Star. She was currently a member of St. George’s AME Church in Lewes, where she served on many boards. She was in the Senior Choir, and a devout worker in the church. She was treasurer of Women’s Day, vice president of the Senior Choir, president of the Budget Committee and president of Pastor’s Aide, an usher and a board member.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, nine months, Willis J. Bundick; two sons, Lamont Garrison and Victor M. Garrison; a daughter, Wanda Morehead; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends, nieces and nephews, and all her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, March 31, at 1 p.m. at Dickerson Chapel, AME Church in Millsboro with internment at People’s Memorial Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Charles ‘Doll Baby’ Harmon, 87
Charles “Doll Baby” Harmon, 87, of Millsboro, died at Green Valley Terrace on Friday, March 24. He was retired from Bunting’s Nursery in Selbyville. Prior to that, he worked for H&H Poultry in Selbyville for many years.

He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dagsboro. He loved his family and many grandkids, he liked walking, collecting cans and being with his friends at Brandywine Apartments and the Christian Storehouse.

He is survived by five step-daughters, Lois Handy, Lucinda Taylor, Ernestine Taylor, Lillian Taylor and Marie Taylor; two step-sons, James Taylor and Alaxander Taylor; nieces Ida Mumford, Gloria Jones, Yolanda Griffin, and Heritta Purnell; nephews Clarence Mumford and William Mumford; and many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Taylor Harmon, a sister, Corina Mumford, and two step-sons, Robert Taylor and Junior Lee Taylor.

Services were scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at 2 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m., with internment at Zoar Golden Acres Cemetery, Bishopville, Md. at a later date.

Harry Claude Hudson, 87
Harry Claude Hudson, 87, of Millsboro, formerly of Georgetown, died at Beebe Medical Center on Wednesday, March 22. He was the parts manager for Boulevard Auto Sales in Georgetown for many years before retiring in 1980.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served combat duty in the Rome to Arno River Campaign, the PO Valley Campaign and the North Apennines Campaign. He was a charter member of the Millsboro VFW Post, charter member of the Sussex Pines Country Club, and an avid golfer in Misca, where he was named the Super-Super Senior Golfer in 1991, 1993 and 1995. In 1991, Hudson was inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian Collins Hudson, one daughter, Cathy Gorman; and two grandchildren, Megan Kate Gorman and Keely O’Brian Gorman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Fred Hudson and William H. Hudson.

Funeral services were scheduled for Sunday, March 26, at Grace UM Church, East Market Street, Georgetown with internment at Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Ronald T. ‘Britt’ Brittingham, 89
Ronald T. “Britt” Brittingham, 89, of Dagsboro, died at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 19. He was a business manager for Agriculture Retail Stores.

He was a World War II Army medic. He was in the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Ardennes, the Northern France Campaign, and the Rhineland. He had been a business manager for Eastern States Agway and Southern States. He also served 10 years with the Sussex County government, in charge of security. He was past commander of VFW Post #7422 Millsboro and a member of Post #19 American Legion of Laurel.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lois Wilder Brittingham, one son, Craig Brittingham; one sister, Ruth Shields; one grandson, Stephen Brittingham; and one great-grandaughter, Alyssa Brittingham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Adolphus and Hartland Brittingham, and one sister, Emily Welch.

Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, March 23, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, with internment at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, where Military Honors will be conferred.

Ethel P. Short, 80
Ethel P. Short, 80, of Frankford, died at home on Tuesday, March 21. She worked for the Indian River School District at the Frankford Elementary School in the cafeteria, having retired after 28 years of service as the head chef.

She was a member of the Antioch AME Church in Frankford. She loved to listen to gospel music and she loved to cook.

She is survived by one son, Harold W. Short; her adopted daughters, Lillian Tingle, Delores Blake and Sharon Townsend; two sisters, Dorothy Pool and Eula Mae Brown; two grandsons, Tyler and Derrick Short; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Short, in 2000.

Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, March 27, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro with internment with her late husband at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Charles J. Davis, 65
Charles J. Davis, 65, of Gumboro, died at Peninsula Regional Medical Center on Thursday, March 23. He was a mechanic for White Construction for 15 years.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and cutting grass.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue E. Davis; three daughters, Lisa Clifton, Kim Baker and Crystal Roe; mother-in-law Hilda Toomey; two brothers, Garnett Davis and Francis Davis; two sisters, Nora Townsend and Dorothy Collins; two grandchildren, Josh Baker and Kaleb Roe.

Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, with internment at Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Grover C. Brown, 95
Grover C. Brown, 95, of Millsboro, died at Beebe Medical Center on Sunday, March 26. He was a retired construction worker at Dover Air Base.

He loved to do puzzle books and listen to music.

He is survived by one brother, Emerson Brown; his adopted family, Catherine Davis, Melinda Davis, Antonio Davis, Asa Davis, Tina Davis, Rita Davis and Willie Davis III.

Graveside services were scheduled for Friday, March 31, at 10:30 a.m. at Zoar Golden Acres Cemetery, Hotel Road, Bishopville, Md. Friends may call at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro from 9 to 10 a.m. Letters of condolence may be e-mailed via delmarvaobits.com.

Margaret Jane Reed, 82
Margaret Jane Reed, 82, of Millsboro, died at Beebe Medical Center on Sunday, March 26. She retired in 1985 after 26 years of service as a charge attendant for the Stockley Center in Millsboro.

She was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Millsboro, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #7422, Millsboro. She received nursing school training in Salisbury, England.

She is survived by her husband, Paul William Reed; two sons, Peter William and Shawn Patrick; three sisters, Bridget Gricus, Teresa Kelly and Josephine Wilson; three grandchildren, Megan Reed, Brian Reed and Mary Beth Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Thursday, March 30, at Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic church, Route 24, Millsboro, with internment at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
