South Bethany

• The South Bethany Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes: the third reading of an ordinance amending the town’s parking regulations and permit system; a proposed resolution to revise the town’s parking permit fees; a first reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 1, General Provisions, of the town code, to make it more consistent with a recently enacted amendment; and a first reading of a proposed ordinance to rescind the entirety of Chapter 7, Code of Conduct for Town Employees, Officers and Officials.

• South Bethany residents will go to the polls on Saturday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Hall to elect three council members. The four candidates running for office are: incumbents John P. Fields and Margaret “Marge” Gassinger, and John A. Rubinsohn and Christopher A. White. Councilman Bob Cestone is not running for re-election.

Absentee ballots are available at Town Hall for any property owner who cannot be present to vote. Ballots must be returned before the closing of the polls at 3 p.m. on May 27. Bethany Beach

• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a council retreat on Friday, May 12.

• Bethany Beach’s Charter and Ordinance Review Committee (CORC) will meet on Thursday, May 18, at 2 p.m. The agenda includes a presentation from General Code Publishers on a town codebook update; and an update on the status of updates to Chapter 238 of the town code.

• Bethany Beach has pushed back its regular monthly council meeting for May, to Friday, May 26, at 7:30 p.m. A public hearing/workshop on uses for the former Neff and Christian Church properties will precede the council session, at 6 p.m. that evening.

Fenwick Island

• The Fenwick Island Charter and Ordinance Committee will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 12, at the town hall. The meeting’s agenda includes drafting amendments to the first reading of the proposed floor-area-ratio (FAR) ordinance.

• The Fenwick Island Budget Committee will meet on Monday, May 15, at 9 a.m. in the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes: discussion of income and expenses projected for all departments and general accounts; review of all capital expenses; review of the May 6 meeting with public participation; creation of a five-year plan for the town; beginning a draft budget for 2006-2007; and setting of the remainder of budget committee meetings for this year’s budget process.

• The Fenwick Island Town Council will hold its regular monthly meeting a week early, on Friday, May 19, at 3:30 p.m. in the town hall.

Ocean View

• The town of Ocean View will hold a work session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16. Town officials plan to discuss a possible annexation request presented by Integrity builders and the possibility of town-provided electricity. They will also consider hosting the DADS clinic on June 24 in the John West Park.

• The town of Ocean View will hold two meetings on Thursday, May 18. At the Board of Adjustments meeting at 6 p.m. in the town hall meeting room, the board will consider an amended variance request submitted by John C. McMillan that would allow him to build a home at 4 Tingle Street that would encroach on the 25-foot wetland buffer and the front and side setbacks. They will then hear an application submitted by Lloyd and Andrea Elling for a special exception to build up to six homes at 49 West Avenue for special-needs adults.

• After the Board of Adjustments hearing, Ocean View will hold its monthly Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, in the town hall meeting room. The commission will review site plans submitted by Douglas Brown on behalf of Bear Trap Farms LLC for possible amendment of the approved site plan for the Village of Bear trap Dunes. The application would subdivide two lots and relocate a basketball court.
