Medford Clyde Franklin Sr., 69
Medford Clyde Franklin Sr., 69, of Bishopville, Md., died at Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for American Paving Company.
He was a 31-year member of the Selbyville Elk’s Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Florence E. Franklin; three sons, M. Clyde Franklin Jr., John M. Franklin and Bruce E. Franklin; two daughters, Bonny M. Timmons and Jean Ann Jarman; four brothers, Linwood E. Franklin, Danny L. Franklin, Jerry D. Franklin and Reuben Franklin; one sister, Cynthia Wooten; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jewell B. Franklin.
Funeral services were scheduled for May 11 at Hastings Funeral Home, Selbyville.
Catharine L. Conaway, 89
Catharine L. Conaway, 89, of Georgetown, died at Milford Center on Friday, May 5, 2006. She was an assembly-line worker for Arrow Safety Device, Georgetown, retiring in 1979 after 20 years.
She attended Georgetown Wesleyan Church and loved to quilt, garden and camp.
She is survived by her son, Leroy Conaway; two daughters, Patricia F. Foraker and Carolyn L. Watson; and one brother, Dallas Wilkerson; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were scheduled for May 9 at Watson Funeral home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, with internment at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
Stephen J. Vargo, 60
Stephen J. Vargo, 60, of Ocean Pines, Md., formerly of Millersville, Md., died at home on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. He had been a correctional officer for the Maryland Department of Corrections and retired as a captain.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines.
He is survived by his brother, Robert F. Vargo; two sisters, Nancy J. Cumins and Sandra A. Bast; his best friend, Stephen G. Dressman; and several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Friday May 12, at noon at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines, with internment at Mount Royal Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Charles C. Waters, 79
Charles C. Waters, 79, of Bishopville, Md., died at Peninsula Medical Center, Salisbury, on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. He had been a truck driver for Perdue Farms for many years.
He was a member of St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church, near Millsboro, where he served as a church usher. He loved to hunt and farm and to joke with the people he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Florentine Waters; one son, Troy Ricketts; three daughters, Jean E. Smith, Dyniece Ricketts and Brena Rickets; seven sisters, Viola Moore, Edna Wooford, Leeta Boykin, Lilly M. Purnell, Edna Wooford, Paulene Lewis and Jocelyn Bailey; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m. at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy, near Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Internment is at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church Cemetery, Millsboro.
