Permit fine ordinances introduced by county
Those who violate Sussex County code by building without permits may soon pay a larger fine for doing so. Sussex County Council introduced an ordinance at its Tuesday meeting that would make builders pay a fine identical to the building permit cost as the penalty for violating the county code. Currently, builders who build without permits have to pay the county only a $100 fine.

About a month after asking the Town of Millville for support, Millville Volunteer Fire Company Fire Chief Graig Temple asked Ocean View’s town council on Tuesday to consider implementing an impact fee for the company, which is overwhelmed by growth and rising prices.

Fire company to open the house
The Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company will throw open its doors in the resort town on Sunday, June 11 — but not to rush their firefighting gear to the scene of a dangerous blaze. Instead, they’ll open the doors of their new station to invite the public inside and dedicate the state-of-the-art facility.
