The Agenda
Bethany Beach
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday, June 16, at 3 p.m. at the town hall, to continue work on zoning code review (Chapter 245) and updates.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet Friday, June 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the town hall. The agenda includes: official announcement of the date of town council elections (Sept. 9, with applications for candidacy due by 4 p.m. on July 25), appointment of the election board, reports from committee chairpersons and possible adoption of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) principles and policies.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will meet on Saturday, June 17, at 9 a.m. at the town hall. The agenda for the meeting includes: (1) discussion of a meeting with the Sea Villas homeowners association, next steps and a timeline for dealing with building conflicts related to Sea Villas, and selection of planning commission representatives for a new ad-hoc committee; (2) an update on the status of proposed amendments relating to setbacks on corner lots; and (3) an update on draft guidelines for commercial construction in the C-1 and C-2 districts, as well as identifying elements of the guidelines requiring zoning changes.
• Bethany Beach’s Architectural Guideline Development Committee for the C-1 and C-2 districts (AGDC) will meet on Thursday, June 22, at 10 a.m. to finalize the guidelines and a list of zoning amendments needed to enact the plan.
Selbyville
Selbyville will host its 50th annual Old Timer’s Day on Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Church and Railroad streets, next to the town’s Railroad Museum. At 9:45 a.m., an opening ceremony will feature local and state dignitaries, including Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III, son of U.S. Sen. Joe Biden and candidate for state attorney general; Rep. Gerald Hocker; Sen. George Bunting; Rep. John Atkins and Sussex County Councilman Vance Phillips. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., enthusiasts can stop by town hall and register their pre-1972 vehicle in the event’s car show. Old Timer’s Day also features food, games, entertainment, informational displays and entertainment for kids throughout the day.
Fenwick Island
• On Tuesday, June 20, at 2 p.m., the Fenwick Island Budget Committee will hold what is likely to be the last of its meetings on the 2007 fiscal-year budget before presentation of the final draft to the town council for action.
• The Fenwick Island Town Council will meet on Friday, June 23, at 3:30 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting.
South Bethany
The South Bethany Town Council will hold a special meeting/council workshop on Thursday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
Ocean View
The town of Ocean View will hold a work session at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, in the town hall meeting room. Town officials plan to discuss a possible rental tax and house numbering ordinances. They will then discuss the possibility of implementing an impact fee to benefit the Millville Fire Company. Officials will also hold a discussion to consider approving specifications and drawings for the public water system.
