Richard R. ‘Doc’ Tapman, 70

Richard R. “Doc” Tapman, 70, of near Georgetown, Del., died on Sunday, June 25, 2006, at home.

He was employed at Townsends Inc. in Millsboro as a diesel mechanic supervisor for 34 years, retiring in 1997.

He enjoyed Western movies, playing cards and time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sara Layton Tapman, son Jeffery and his wife Tracey; daughter Sharon and her husband William Bradford; two brothers, Laurel and William; sisters Glenna Layton and Shirley Tapman; four grandchildren, Troy and his wife Samantha, Lyndsey, Rebekah and William; one great grandchild, Alexander; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathryn Joseph.

Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be at Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery, Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Rd., Milford, Delaware 19963.

John Drummond, 88

John Drummond, 88, of Frankford, Delaware, formerly of Onley, Va., died June 23, 2006, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.

Drummond was a retired farmer. His hobbies were farming and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Drummond; sons, Fred Drummond and Kenneth Drummond; daughters, Nelvis Fisher, Delores Drummond and Belinda Drummond; seven nieces and nephews that he and his wife raised, Thurman Doughty, Ruby Garrison, Lisa Hughy, Ben Sample, Gene Doughty, Viola Fields and Bonnie Doughty; one brother, Joe Toppin; sisters Diane Drummond, Delores Drummond, Lavonia Drummond, Gladys Needem, Cordy Drummond and Bernice Cook; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church, Mt. Joy, near Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Zoar Golden Acres, Bishopville, Md.
