Ocean View
The town of Ocean View will hold its regular monthly town council meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at town hall. Council members will consider an ordinance which would impose a tax on rental properties and one relating to addressing and street naming. They will then consider a motion brought forth by Councilman Roy Thomas to censure Councilman Bill Wichmann for at least 11 charges related to the installation of a generator at the temporary police station. Discussion about the new public works building will also be held. Councilmen will then consider changing the town’s Web site address to oceanview.delaware.gov.
Bethany Beach
• The Bethany Beach Architectural Guideline Development Committee (AGDC) will meet on Tuesday, July 18, at 10 a.m., to continue work on the final draft of the guidelines for the C-1 and C-2 commercial district.
• The Bethany Beach Charter and Ordinance Review Committee (CORC) will meet on Thursday, July 20, at 2 p.m.
• The Bethany Beach Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday, July 21, at 2 p.m. to review recommended changes to the final draft of the AGDC guidelines.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a public workshop on the AGDC guidelines at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, July 21, prior to their regular council meeting.
• The Bethany Beach Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 21. The agenda for the meeting includes: (1) discussion of a charter amendment to restrict the disposition or potential uses of the former Christian Church and Neff properties; (2) a first reading of an amendment adding porous-surface requirements for driveways and walkways; (3) a first reading of an ordinance to require an engineering report on the impact of any grading, elevation changes or lot clearing on adjoining properties, and/or on the town’s storm water system, and prohibiting the issuance of a building permit if shown to have a material negative impact on adjoining properties; and (4) a first reading of an ordinance to clarify when site preparation, lot clearing or earth moving activities may take place.
• Bandstand entertainment for the week includes: Flumpa (interactive musical science adventure for all ages) on Friday, July 14; local country-Western singer Beth Ann Cayhill on Saturday; the Honeycombs on Sunday; Pete Geist, visual comedian on Wednesday; and St. Paul’s Brazz on Friday. Fenwick Island
The Fenwick Island Society of Homeowners will hold its annual meeting and meet-the-candidates event on Saturday, July 15, at 9:30 a.m.
South Bethany
• The South Bethany Town Council will hold its regular meeting on Friday, July 14, at 7 p.m. The agenda includes: (1) the third reading of an ordinance better allowing the voluntary payment of assessments for violations of town code; (2) the third reading of an ordinance striking the original provisions for a code of ethics and ethics board in the town; and (3) a vote on a resolution adopting the town’s comprehensive plan.
• The South Bethany Town Council will hold a special meeting/workshop on Monday, July 17, at 7 p.m.
Sussex County Council
Sussex County Council will return after a two-week hiatus and meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at its Georgetown council chambers. Council members will hear an ordinance to amend code to define a “scattered parcel.” They will then also hear a plethora of grant requests including on from the Center for the Inland Bays for its Shellfish Gardening Program. Discussion on the Reynolds Pond LLC appeal is also scheduled.
