Preston Lee Hudson, 82

Preston Lee Hudson, 82 of Gumboro, Del., died Monday July 17, 2006, at Peninsula Regional Medical, Center Salisbury, Md.

Hudson was a Navy Veteran of World War II, awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received aboard the LCS L353 on D-Day at Normandy. He also took part in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The job of the 353 was mine destruction and picket duty. He wore the American European and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbons and Philippine Liberation bar. He retired from the Beacon Milling Co. in Laurel after 19 years and Townsend’s Inc. after 14 years.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Lee Hudson and Lee Hudson, two daughters, Janice and husband James Perdue, Joyce and husband Gary West; one brother, Dale Hudson, sisters, Rebecca and husband Bill Prettyman, sister-in-law, Pearl Morris; grandchildren, J.R. and wife Beth Perdue, Nicky Brittingham, D.J. Oliphant, Faith and husband Wayne Courtney; great-grandchildren Dylan, Caleb, Nicholas, Madelyn, Steven, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in 1998 by his wife, Madelyn Phillips Hudson, to whom he was married for 51 years, and a brother, Carl Hudson, in 1990.

Funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, July 23, at noon, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 6-8 Friday night and 11-12 Saturday.

Internment will be at Jerusalem Methodist Cemetery, Parsonsburg, Md.

Edward McGue, 70

Edward McGue, 70, formerly of Laurel, Md., died June 25, 2006, at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes.

McGue was a floral designer for the Baltimore-Washington area.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Charlie Webb; his niece, and nephew-in-law, Jennifer and Craig Jeffries; grand-nieces Abigail and Gabrielle Jeffries, his Aunt Virginia Long and cousins.

There will be a memorial graveside service, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Laurel, Md.

Larry K. Pruett, 43

Larry K. Pruett, 43 of Millsboro, Del., died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Beebe Hospital, Lewes.

Larry was a splicing tech for Verizon for the past nine years. He has been a field contractor since 1988. Pruett was a member of the Coweeta Baptist Church in Otto, N.C. He was a hard worker, and a “home body.” He loved golfing and fishing, he hit a hole-in-one at the age of 13. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who adored his grandson. Everyone who knew him, knew he was “one great guy.”

He is survived by his wife, Glenda C. Pruett; two daughters, Christy Pruett Reeves and husband Paul, Missy Pruett; two brothers, Rick Pruett and wife Debbie, Gary Pruett; one sister, Cathy Jones; one grandson, Brock Reeves. He is also survived by a host of co-workers at Verizon.

Funeral services (viewing) were scheduled for July 18 at Watson Funeral Home 211 Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware. Funeral services were scheduled for July 20 at the Windy Gap Baptist Church in Franklin, N.C. with a viewing from 1-3 p.m. at the Macon Funeral Home in Franklin, N.C. Internment will be at Windy Gap Cemetery, Franklin, North Carolina.

Mauricelene D. ‘Penny’ Mondell, 65

Mauricelene D. “Penny” Mondell, 65, of Millsboro died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.

Mondell had been a cosmetician manager for Happy Harry’s in Georgetown. She also was a certified Diamondologist. Penny was a member of the American Legion Post 28 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Bird Chapter of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of AMARANT. She was the Pennsylvania state freestyle and speed skating champion at age 12. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Pottstown, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer “Butch” Mondell; three sons, Peter M. Nimmerichter and wife Rosana, Anthony “Tony” Nimmerichter and wife Karen, Morris “Chip” Nimmerichter and wife Christa; one daughter, Shawnie R. Noel and husband, Kevin; one sister, Pamela J. Hines Kemp; 12 grandchildren, Mandi, Josh, Heather Marie, Toni Ann, Coyote, Stephany, Thomas, Eric, Heather Rae, Cassey, Christopher and seven great-grandchildren, Lillyan, Nikki, Tim, Erica, Ken, Dale, and Bianca.

Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home 211 Washington St. Millsboro. Internment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

S. Margery Jarmon, 90

S. Margery Jarmon, 90 of Millsboro, Del., died on Friday, July 14, 2006 at home.

Jarmon was a lifetime member of the Brandywiners. She served as the executive director of the Delaware Board of Nursing; she was a graduate of the University of Delaware, The Delaware School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania. She served as the director of nursing and director of nursing education in Delaware, North Dakota, Nebraska and North Carolina. During her time in Wilmington, she was active in music circles. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Millsboro and The American Nurses Association. She was predeceased by her parents.

She is survived by her special friends Walter and Doris Hamilton.

Services were scheduled for July 19 at St. Marks Episcopal Church, Millsboro, with internment at West Nottingham Cemetery, Rising Sun, Md.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 216 N. Race St. Georgetown, Delaware 19947.

Ronald J. Carrara, 62

Ronald J. Carrara, 62, of Selbyville, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at home.

He had been Verizon technician for many years.

He had been a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Ocean City and a member of the Ocean City American Legion Post 166.

He is survived by his wife, Margo M. Carrara; two daughters, Heather Cain and Melissa Wioskowski; one son, Chris Carrara; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was scheduled for Friday, July 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md.
