Bethany Beach

• The annual election for the Town of Bethany Beach Town Council will be held in the Bethany Beach Town Meeting Room, 214 Garfield Parkway, on Saturday, Sept. 9, from noon to 6 p.m. Four town council members will be elected. Council members Jerry Dorfman, Tony McClenny, Lew Killmer, Harry Steele are up for re-election. Challengers are Charles Gravatte, Joseph Healy, Tracy Mulligan and Steve Wode. At least four of the seven members of the town council must be residents of the town, but all may be residents of the town.

Absentee ballots may be requested by mail or e-mail no later than five days before the election and in person no later than 3 p.m. on the day before the election. A photocopy of proper identification (driver’s license, Social Security card, or other government-issued ID) must accompany the absentee ballot in order for it to be considered valid. Absentee ballots must be received by 4 p.m. on the day before the election. To request a ballot, call (302) 537-3771 or e-mail admin@townofbethanybeach.com.

• The Bethany Beach Election Board will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m.

• The Town of Bethany Beach will host an open house at town hall on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Town officials will open much of the building to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Fenwick Island

• The newly reconstituted Fenwick Island Town Council will meet for its first regular meeting on Friday, Aug. 25, at 3:30 p.m. at the town hall. The agenda includes the presentation of a STAR Business Award, and discussion and possible vote on: (1) a request for an outdoor block party with live music, (2) reorganization of town committees, (3) appointments to the Board of Adjustments, (4) old cell phone donation request, (5) purchase of a car for the police department, (6) Town Manager Search Committee progress report,(7) final review and possible approval of a contract with the Institute of Public Administration for development of a comprehensive plan, and (8) The Estuary development.

• The Fenwick Island Board of Adjustments will meet at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28.

Ocean View

• The Town of Ocean View will hold a meeting regarding the construction progress of the town’s public safety building on Monday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m., at the construction trailer on the site of the new building, at 201 Central Avenue

• The Town of Ocean View will host a concert by Junior Wilson in John West Park, next to town hall, on Friday, Aug. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. Food and beverages will be sold by Ocean View Leisure Center, and free ice cream will be served. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.
