The Coastal Point covers news and events in Bethany Beach, South Bethany, Fenwick Island, Ocean View, Millville, Frankford, Selbyville and Dagsboro, Del., as well as the larger area of southeastern Sussex County, from the Delaware state line north to the Indian River Inlet and from the coast inland to Millsboro.

Our focus is truly local, with local reporters attending nearly all official meetings in each of our towns, as well as following news and events in the area’s non-incorporated communities.

CIB approves aquaculture planning report, launches initiative

One year after creating the Inland Bays Shellfish Aquaculture Tiger Team and naming E.J. Chalabala, restoration coordinator for the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays (CIB), to lead it, the CIB Board of Directors approved the final report from the team at their meeting on March 22.

Gallery One to feature ‘Return of Spring’ through April 29

Gallery One in Ocean View recently announced their new art show, “Return of Spring,” which was scheduled to go on display March 26 and run through April 29. The 15 gallery artists will each present one work that depicts their interpretation of that theme.

Lighthouse Realty Group moves to new location

Susan Clark, Broker/owner of Lighthouse Realty Group Inc. announced this week that the office has a new location, at 59 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 200, in Ocean View, across from Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church on Route 26.

Paddling event at VFW offers support for wounded warriors

The first annual Warrior Paddle Race is scheduled for May 18 in the waters off the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post #7234 in Ocean View. Race shirts will be provided to the first 100 registrants. The day includes a three-mile stand-up paddle (SUP) race, a six- mile SUP race, a one-mile open kayak race (bay and surf), a three- mile open kayak race (bay and surf), a kid’s half-mile race and a social paddle.

Local woman going bald in support of cancer research
