WEATHER ALERT: Snowfall tops 14 inches in Selbyville; whiteout conditions, power outages, travel prohibitions continue
A winter storm warning is in effect in the area until 7 p.m. on Saturday evening. Light to moderate snow with embedded areas of heavy snow near the Atlantic coast was occurring across the area late this afternoon, adding about 6 inches of snow in Selbyville over the course of several hours and causing whiteout conditions in some areas.
WEATHER ALERT: Snowfall tops 8 inches in coastal Sussex; non-emegency vehicles still prohibited from travel
With snow totals statewide topping 15 inches in some locations and more than 8 inches of snow in the local area, Delaware emergency officials on Saturday morning were reminding the public of the State of Emergency currently in force and the requirement that they stay off roads until further notice. Only emergency vehicles are permitted on the roads in Delaware as of 9 a.m. Saturday.
WEATHER ALERT: Snow accumulating and winds beginning to build
Snow is beginning to accumulate, the plows are out, and residents everywhere are settling in for a long weekend, state officials reported Friday evening as blizzard conditions hit Delaware. As of 9:30 p.m. on Friday Delaware State Police reported that there had been one injury accident and 15 crashes that involved property damage.

State of Emergency declared for state as of 8 p.m., vehicles ordered off roads as of 10 p.m.
Gov. Jack Markell declared a State of Emergency covering the entire state of Delaware effective at 8 p.m. Friday, with vehicles ordered off the roads as of 10 p.m.
WEATHER ALERT: Blizzard warning in effect Friday and Saturday, up to 18 inches of snow, strong winds forecast
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a blizzard warning, which is in effect from 4 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday. The previous winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
A storm system developing over the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday will pass off the Carolina coast Friday night and then continue to the northeast on Saturday.

Due to inclement weather, all Indian River School District schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 3. All 12-month employees should report two hours late.
WEATHER ALERT: Delaware readies for more snowfall with 1 to 3 inches forecast and possible weekend storm
With a weather advisory from the National Weather Service in effect, state agencies on Tuesday were preparing to meet the challenge of yet more snow.
The National Weather Service Mt. Holly office issued a winter weather advisory for Delaware that was to be in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday evening to 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Due to inclement weather, all Indian River School District schools will be closed on Monday, Feb. 1. All 12-month employees are not required to report.

WEATHER ALERT: Road conditions remain dangerous; 8-13 inches of snow on the ground, below-freezing temps continue
National Weather Service officials are warning of icy roads on Sunday morning. With very cold temperatures in place, any snow from the storm Saturday night that melts on Sunday will freeze on roadways and other untreated surfaces. Caution was advised for those traveling on Sunday. Drivers should be alert for any icy conditions.

Low pressure developing along the Texas Gulf Coast on Friday afternoon was expected to track northeastward Friday night and Saturday, and to move off the Carolina coast early Saturday night.
S. Bethany has funding available for park research
South Bethany has enough money available in its current budget to pay for up to $5,000 in expenses related to investigating whether the existing Richard Hall Memorial Park can be developed into something more than a wooded parcel adjacent to the town hall.
BREAKING NEWS: Ocean View police issue warnings after weekend car burglaries
Ocean View police on Monday, Jan. 18, reported that, over the weekend, the surrounding area had at least eight car burglaries that police knew about. They occurred in Savannah's Landing, Ocean Way Estates and Summerfield, police said, noting that all of the vehicles were unlocked and various items, including cash, GPS equipment, cameras and other electronic items, were taken.

Due to snow, all Indian River School District schools are now closed on Friday, Jan. 8. Officials had previously announced a two-hour delay. All 12-month employees should report at their regular time. The Cape Henlopen School District is also closed on Friday, with staff reporting on a two-hour delay.

On Dec. 23, Attorney General Joseph R. “Beau” Biden III held a press conference to update the public on the investigation of Lewes pediatrician Dr. Earl B. Bradley. In addition, Biden provided information about victim services that are available to community members who have been affected by the case.

Carper, officials examine storm damage to dunes
Recent storms that pummeled the Delaware coastline have sent town officials and organization chairs back to the drawing boards and back to their wallets. Although the money invested in building the dunes and reconstructed beaches two years ago has been credited with saving countless residences and businesses, and perhaps lives, the recovery from such devastation is no quick turnaround.
SB park issue heads to committee
The South Bethany Town Council may be divided on the issue of a referendum on a proposed town park adjacent to town hall, but the division this week appeared to be focused primarily on what level of detail the town wants to offer in terms of information about the referendum issue before voters head to the polls.

As heavy snow continued to blanket the entire state on Dec. 19, state officials said agencies were working hard to keep the primary roads passable and tending to stranded motorists. Additionally, Gov. Jack Markell declared a State of Emergency for New Castle and Kent counties, effective at 3 p.m. Saturday.
BREAKING NEWS: Bethany council to hold special meeting Tuesday on AT&T tower suit
The Bethany Beach Town Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at the town hall. The meeting will include discussion and a vote on moving forward with the Sea Pines Village homeowners association with litigation to halt the construction of a 100-foot-tall cell tower adjacent and outside of the corporate limits of Bethany Beach.
BREAKING NEWS: Additional 24 charges filed against Lewes pediatrician in rape, exploitation cases
Lewes pediatrician Dr. Earl B. Bradley was charged with an additional 24 charges on Friday, Dec. 18, after turning himself in to Delaware State Police Troop 4 detectives on Friday morning.
